SVI MAX RECON
The SVI MAX Recon is a rapid-deployment 6×6 tactical version of the field-proven MAX 3. It’s a five-seater military vehicle built for fast reaction, deep infiltration and sustained battlefield support.
RAPID DEPLOYMENT 6×6 TACTICAL VEHICLE
In recent times, it’s become clear that the modern battlefield demands speed, adaptability and firepower. The SVI MAX Recon has been designed to meet these precise requirements, specifically engineered with rapid reconfiguration in mind. Mission-specific adjustments can be made quickly and easily using basic hand tools and lifting equipment. This means the vehicle can be mobilised at short notice, even if requirements shift.
ADVANCED 6×6 CONVERSION
Based on the Land Cruiser 70 Series platform, the rugged MAX Recon furthermore benefits from SVI’s proven 6×6 conversion. This upgrade greatly increases its carrying capacity and improves off-road performance.
- Selectable modes: 6×2, 6×4 or full 6×6 engagement.
- Bogie suspension system: Ensures superior off-road performance and stability.
- Heavy-duty rear differentials: Locally manufactured casings replace the standard units, while retaining Toyota components for ease of maintenance.
- Through-drive rear differential: Provides seamless power distribution across all axles.
ADAPTABLE PROTECTION
Equipped with B6 armour (including for the engine bay and firewall as well as for the roof), the MAX Recon comes with a split windscreen featuring B6 glass. Each section of the windscreen can be folded flat when required, while the co-driver’s dedicated weapon mount allows for direct forward firing, maximising frontal combat capability.
A turret-mounting interface is integrated into the roof, while each door aperture features a weapon mount and a composite half-door (complete with quick-release hinges for rapid removal). The vehicle can be closed with a canvas cover for lighter missions or fitted with full armoured doors for higher protection levels.

The MAX Recon allows rapid adaptation to diverse operational requirements. Current configurations include:
- Reconnaissance platform
- ZU-23 autocannon system (variant developed in conjunction with the CSIR)
- 14.5 mm anti-aircraft system
- Scorpion automated mortar systems (60 mm & 81 mm)
- 107 mm rocket system
- Drone operations base
It also supports the installation of communication systems, command & control systems, electronic jamming systems and electronic warfare suites.
